I struggle to find the words to start with in thanking everyone who has been a part of the Bergen County Youth Law Enforcement Leadership Academy. My last 2 years with the program have been rewarding in that I have learned much, met some really great people, and have gained skills in discipline, leadership, teamwork and respect.
To the graduating seniors: I commend you on your efforts in the Academy and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You will be missed very much from the program and remember you will always have a family/home with the Academy and Sheriff’s Office. Take everything you have learnt from the program and apply it to your future lives. God speed.
To the cadets: It is my sincerest hope that you continue to give 110% of yourselves to the Academy. Bring new ideas, talents, insights, motivation, and your individual talents. You all have so much potential and by giving what you have to offer, the program can really thrive in the coming years. Remember that regardless of your position or rank you are all leaders and have just as much right as anyone to step up and say something, help out, or give an idea.
For the cadets who were recently promoted: Congratulations and best of luck. Remember as a leader, you have to listen to your cadets and back them up. You are a team and you must gain the trust and respect of the cadets under you. Motivate each other and demand/expect the best that everyone can give. Support each other and support the other cadet officers. Work together to continue building the Academy and always, always, always, lead by example.
+To the officers: + From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all of the support, kind words, and opportunities you have given me within the last two years. You have motivated me and helped me in developing leadership skills and confidence. I will always have a special place in my heart for the Academy and will take everything I have learned over the years with me in my future endeavors.

Once again, thank you all so much for all of the great times and memories. Please keep in touch and don’t give up on the program. It is only in its growing stages and I have faith it will blossom into something really amazing and special. William James said “If you care enough for a result, you will most certainly attain it” The family I have found with the Academy is one I will always cherish and I couldn’t be more grateful that our live crossed paths.

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”- John Quincy Adams

First off, thank you to all of the cadets who participated in Saturday’s Physical Assesment. Everyone did a great job and showed marked improvement. Keep up the great work and motivation.

As you all know, this coming Wednesday we have our last official meeting of the year for the Academy. It is imperitive that everyone attends because provisional promotion will be announced, we will be discussing our yearly trip, and we will be recognizing the graduating seniors.

Also, for those of you interesting in donating anything for the two boys in this year’s Sheriff For A Day program, please take a look at the announcement that was posted regarding the event and bring donations to the meeting Wednesday.

If anyone has any scheduling conflicts for the meeting, please let me know, but I urge you to try to make this meeting a priority.

As a reminder, you will report to the Jail for no later than 6:45 in your uniforms this Wednesday May 16th for an important meeting.

If there are any question, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look foward to seeing everyone Wednesday.
